Making his Mark
20 September, 2021
Congratulations are in order for our own very own, Mark Polonsky, who has created the winning design for Down Syndrome Australia’s ‘Lots of Socks’ competition.
World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March, is a global awareness day that has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The date for WDSD is the 21st day of the 3rd month. This date was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.
Down Syndrome Australia run the Lots of Socks campaign each year.
The theme for this year was ‘Australiana’. Mark was hesitant to submit his entry at first but his art mentor, Michal, encouraged him and although his entry went in a bit late the judges obviously liked it. Mark’s koala painting was chosen as the design for the socks. We are all very excited for both Mark and Michal.
We will share details of how you can purchase a pair of the socks once they are for sale.
