Partnering in art and community inclusion

Around Bayley Collaboration In the Community

Bayley House has a longstanding partnership with Brighton Grammar School who have previously worked at our Middle Crescent site to create some incredible murals.

Bayley Arts hosted a group of 15 students from Brighton Grammar School  who worked with talented artist Aileen Ng and Bayley Artists to paint a mural on an external wall visible from downstairs studios – Bayley Arts’ very first mural!  The design work was guided by Aileen Ng with input and workshopping with the BGS students. Aileen’s work is influenced by a background in mathematics and physics and is distinctive in it’s bold use of colour and geometric line and perspective. Aileen, Brighton Grammar students and Bayley Artists collaborated to paint the mural over five days to base coat, draw up and paint the beautiful mural. Many positive and fun connections were formed between Bayley Artists and BGS students during the project and some of the Bayley Artists also gave students a tour of the centre and our current Ink it Up exhibition giving students insight into the art initiatives championed by Bayley Arts.

In addition, throughout the week, the students also provided valuable community service to Bayley Arts with additional projects including cleaning and painting light boxes for a future fashion event, joining some of our programs, sanding and base coating a piano for a future sculpture project and created hand painted garden tiles with Bayley Artists.
