20 September, 2023
One of the most anticipated additions to Bayley House in recent times was launched this term when Bayley Arts opened its doors for the first time.
Just off Bay Rd and metres away from Melbourne’s south side, bustling arts hub Advantage Rd. The building boasts a professional art gallery and four multi-purpose studios, which includes a woodworking area, textiles workshop, printing press, drawing and painting studio, and digital art studio.
Other features include a fully equipped kitchen and kitchenette, accessible bathrooms, projection screens, and an advanced access control security system and CCTV. Our spaces are multifunctional and offer the versatility for a variety of purposes including – wet and dry art studio spaces, creative well-being workshops, rehearsals, corporate team building sessions or events, product or book launches. With such a broad variety of options, Bayley Arts will be able to provide something to suit your needs.
Bayley Arts has been a time long coming and to say that we celebrated would be an understatement. Our launch evening was a huge success with donors and supporters in attendance to see Bayley Arts in all its glory. It was quite special to open the space to those who have long been supporters of this vision.
John Ashby, Bayley House Board Chair, provided an overview of our journey over the past two years and it was wonderful to hear from our clients Bronwyn and Hayley who are already enjoying the variety of programs offered at Bayley Arts. Warwick Cavanagh, Bayley House CEO, reaffirmed the objective of Bayley Arts to provide more arts-based activities for our clients and to become an active partner in the community arts space.
The launch week concluded with our Community Open Day where we invited all Bayley House families, staff, new neighbours, and members of the wider community to come and have a look at what we have on offer. We were overwhelmed by the response with over 300 people stopping by to see Bayley Arts firsthand.
In the weeks that Bayley Arts has been open, it has been wonderful to witness the way the space seamlessly transforms from daytime art studio hosting NDIS programs to weekend exhibition space open to the public. Just this week, our first round of workshops has launched which you can book into. Several exhibitions are scheduled for the coming months.
If you would like to be involved at Bayley Arts in a volunteer capacity, we are in need of people to provide a bit of extra support within our woodwork and textiles programs! Please get in touch with our Senior Program Manager, Tessa for more information.
