JumpStarting our hockey skills

In the Community

Team sports are a fantastic way to access the wider community while having fun, improving your fitness and making news friends.

Bayley House has been involved in the Access All Abilities Hockey program with Bayside Hockey Club for quite some time now and we are thrilled that this program is able to continue after being funded through the generosity of JumpStart, a wellbeing initiative of VicHealth, ‘VicHealth is giving 180 local ideas a JumpStart! In creating vibrant, active and connected communities of young people, all across the state.’

Bayside Hockey club are extremely worthy recipients of this grant as proven through their program with Bayley House. Many of our clients had never played hockey before and have developed wonderful skills on the field.

Club President, Rachel Black has been instrumental in the relationship with Bayley House and says ‘Bayside Hockey Club is so excited to be able to continue our Access All Abilities hockey program with Bayley House. We believe every person regardless of their age or ability should be able to play our sport and be part of our hockey community. Team sport provides so many health benefits, fun and social interaction. Each week as the participants improve their skills we see their confidence in their ability and themselves grow. It’s a wonderful program to be a part of.’

It certainly is a wonderful program to be part of and we look forward to more people being able to join in and benefit from the community inclusion.
