Residential Services
Bayley House provides community based supported accommodation for those who are no longer living with their families. We currently manage eight houses including a respite centre and an Independent Living Complex. The six supported accommodation houses provide a permanent home for more than 30 people. Our Independent Living Complex, the Roxburgh Units, consist of five units catering for 10 residents in three, two or one bedroom units.
Bayley House is committed to providing a high quality Residential Service that offers a caring and supportive home-like environment that meets the needs of each resident. Our houses are located in suburban streets and promote a lifestyle similar to those of other community members. There is an emphasis on individual choice, self-determination and empowerment.
Residents are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of the running of their home. Each person has his or her own bedroom. The independent living units are self contained. In all other houses the lounge, kitchen, dining rooms and bathroom facilities are shared. Residents participate in activities that maintain and further develop self-care skills, promote independent living and extend social skills. At weekends and during holiday periods, many residents are involved in recreational and leisure pursuits such as picnics, barbecues, shopping, eating out or going to the movies.
All houses operate seven days a week. Staffing levels are determined according to the requirements of the people living in the house. A staff member is present at the Independent Living Complex for several hours each day. In all other houses the staff are present when residents are at home. This includes overnight. Unless a resident is ill or on holiday our houses are normally closed between 10am and 3pm.
