Honda to the rescue - New car for Lubrano Street
7th of October 2009
Thanks to the support of Brighton’s Robert Lane Honda and The Honda Foundation, the five residents of Bayley House’s supported accommodation home in Lubrano Street have a new car to transport them to and from their social activities, day programs, outings and appointments.Mr Sam Lane, General Manager of Robert Lane Honda, presented Ann Parry, Manager of Residential Services and residents of Lubrano Street with the keys to a brand new Honda Odyssey on Friday October 2. The car was made available through The Honda Foundation which provides financial assistance and loan cars to organisations such as Bayley House.
“We are very grateful to The Honda Foundation for recognising the needs of our residents” said Ann. “Our Lubrano Street house has been without a dedicated vehicle for a while now. At times one of our fleet buses is available but mostly the guys had to travel in a staff member’s car or make their way around the community on public transport or by bike. This car will make an enormous difference to their ability to participate more in community based activities and give us time to seek funding to purchase a vehicle.”
Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Lindsay Smalley said, “The Foundation is very pleased to offer this Odyssey for use by Bayley House. It will provide the residents of Lubrano Street with a stylish and comfortable vehicle to take them where ever they need to be.”
Robert Lane Honda fully supported Bayley House’s application and will provide servicing and regular safety checks at no cost. “This is a fabulous program to be involved in,” Sam Lane said. “Bayley House does such a great job supporting people from our local area. It is wonderful for us to be able to give something back to the community and help Bayley House in this way.”
