Bayley House 'Backyard Blitz'

On Tuesday 3 April, ten volunteers from Zurich Financial Services performed a ‘Backyard Blitz’ at Bayley House. Members of the Bayley House gardening group worked alongside the volunteers to complete the project. They have done a fantastic job digging up the old garden beds, pruning trees, removing weeds and planting a new native garden. By the end of the day the garden was completely transformed into an area that will be used by Bayley House community for many years to come.The new backyard has put the finishing touches on renovations being undertaken on the property adjacent to the main Bayley House complex. The renovated building will provide improved facilities and work areas for the ‘Futures’ group; the younger members of our community.
In 2006, Zurich Financial Services was partnered with Bayley House by United Way, an organisation that assists corporations to provide practical and financial support to local charities. Since then the staff have been committed to supporting Bayley House through the donation of funds, time and resources.
In March Zurich offered to design and landscape the front and back gardens of the new property. Last year several staff from Zurich had spent a day helping with some of the programs Bayley House and wanted to help in other ways. Landscaping the new area was the ideal project.
