Bayley Respite Brochure

Our Respite Services

Bayley House manages a facility based respite service which offers high quality short term accommodation for people who attend Bayley House and other similar services in the Southern Metropolitan area of Melbourne. Each year Bayley House provides respite for up to 100 people and their carers.

Respite gives both the carers and those who stay at Bayley Respite an opportunity to have a break from their normal routine. Families and carers can take time out from the ongoing responsibilities of caring for a person with an intellectual disability, whilst those visiting our respite house have the opportunity to develop new friendships, enjoy different experiences and adjust to a different environment.

Our respite service caters for a variety of needs. Some stay a few nights, others a few weeks. Bookings are essential and are taken on a quarterly basis. Before you can use the services of Bayley Respite it is important that you attend an interview with the Respite Coordinator so we can meet you and make sure we know what support is required.

Bayley Respite is open most nights as well as during the day on weekends and Day Service holidays. It is closed for a week at Easter, five days in July and approximately three weeks over the Christmas - January holiday period to facilitate maintenance.

Closure dates for 2015 are:

  • Tuesday 31 March - Tuesday 7 April (reopens April 8)
  • Sunday 5 July - Sunday 12 July  (reopens July 13)
  • Thursday 24 December 2015 - Monday 18 January 2016 (reopens January 19)
